About Us

The Association of Nepali Agricultural Journalists (ANAJ) is a professional organization of agricultural journalists, communicators, and media practitioners in Nepal. Established in April 2020, ANAJ aims to promote and strengthen agricultural journalism, while enhancing the understanding, dissemination, and communication of agricultural issues to a broader audience.

ANAJ is led by media professionals who have decades of experience in journalism and have been actively promoting agricultural communication since 2012. The organization provides a dynamic platform for its members to exchange ideas, share information, and collaborate on initiatives related to agricultural journalism and communication. ANAJ regularly organizes training programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance the capacity of its members and to promote best practices in agricultural reporting.

The organization works closely with a wide range of stakeholders in the agriculture and livestock sectors, including government agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, National Dairy Development Board, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Food Technology and Quality Control, as well as organizations like FAO Nepal, Nepal Dairy Association, Dairy Entrepreneurs’ Association, Floriculture Association Nepal, and the Agriculture Campaign for Food, among other topic-specific associations and forums.

Through these collaborations, ANAJ contributes to policy recommendations, awareness campaigns, and advocacy initiatives that address the needs and challenges of the agriculture and livestock community.

In addition, ANAJ recognizes and honors farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and journalists who have made outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector through national awards and recognition programs. Key initiatives include policy submissions to the government, disaster advocacy for farmers affected by natural events, and the promotion of traditional crops, such as millet, through events like ‘National Millet Day.’

Overall, ANAJ plays a vital role in promoting professional, ethical, and accountable agricultural journalism in Nepal. By bridging media, policymakers, and the farming community, the organization helps raise awareness of the importance of agriculture for sustainable development and fosters informed public dialogue on agricultural issues.
